trona processing plant is shown above. When trona is processed it is first calcined.
Trona can be decomposed or calcined at any temperature over 70 degrees C, but
most manufacturers prefer around 130 degrees C. Energy for the process can be
provided by coal. A coal pile is shown to the right. The calcined material is
dissolved, clarified, filtered and recrystallized. It is then cetrifuged to
remove excess water and dried. The dried product is shipped as either a bagged
or bulk product.
