Bingaman aide appointed to NRC

ALBUQUERQUE: Ed McGaffigan, aide to Sen. Jeff Bingaman, has been confirmed as a member of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Bingaman announced Monday.

McGaffigan, who had been with Bingaman's office since 1983, will be sworn in Aug. 28. The Senate confirmed the appointment Aug. 2, Bingaman's office said.

The five-member NRC regulates nuclear power generation and nuclear waste disposal.
